Worst printer I have ever had, I paid 100 bucks to stock up on refills, and now they are completely worthless. So even though the ink refills are full, I can't even friggin use them. I am never buying an HP product ever again. I bought Ink refills and didn't use the printer much for 4 months. Now I find out that the ink refills expire.
Now I am dealing with HP to try and get a refund. Oh yes, did I mention that grays print out as pink. Screwed up my entire system until I went in and removed everything from the registry. All of this comes on the heel of owning an 8250 which was, and remains, one of the best printers I've ever owned. Third, the print to CD/DVD templates are so few and so limited, that you'll wonder why HP even bothered. First, its an ink hog.
Second, incredible software implications with Window XP. HP sent me a new printhead which did nothing, except put me over the 30 day return policy. Worst ink hog I've ever owned. This printer was a total waste of money. Go figure. And the ink carts are among the most expensive out there.
(The included "uninstall" option leaves all kinds of crap on your computer).
I used it a total of 4 times, before it stop printing again because the ink cartridges had expired. They also told me they do not give refunds, only product replacements. As soon as I took it out of the box it refused to work.
HP tech support, told me the printer is no longer working and needs to be replaced. So I can't get a refund on the ink cartridges that I just brought, nor can I used them.Not only is this printer a piece of junk, HP is making a killing off of the ink cartridges that has a one year expiration date. They also said if the printer was still under the one year warranty, they would have replaced it, but since it is no longer under warranty, I'm pretty much S.O.L.
I bought this printer a few years ago. I installed the new ink cartridge and got a "ink system failure error message". Once the cartridges expire, the printer will no longer print.DON'T BUY THIS PRINTER, IT'S A PIECE OF JUNK.
HP replaced it right away. I replaced the ink cartridges to the tune of $80.
I should have returned this product IMMEDIATELY and now I pay for that decision everytime I need to print something. Seriously. After owning this printer for 3+ years, I have to cite my absolute and total frustration with the printer. Whenever I want to print a photo, I have to give myself 1+ hours to get the paper feed to work. DO NOT BUY THIS HORRIBLE PRINTER. It is almost impossible to get the paper feed to work. Is it just me, or did HP forget to design the paperfeed until the last minute.
Apparently this is to preserve the "integrity" of the system. I hate you so much. The printer can only print if it has all of the proper cartridges. This boggles my mind.
I understand that HP has to make money off of the printer cartridges. What I want in a printer is this: 1. Print out documents quickly and efficiently. If I'm low on a color, cut me some slack and print in black and white - or tones of grey, or all blue, or pink or whatever I have on hand. I was printing out pictures of my girlfriend, my dogs, my neighborhood.
You would think that's not that big of a problem, but if you want to print out a 34-page document (like I do, right now) and you're out of "blue", you don't have the option to print in black and white. Even beer now comes with a "best by" date. But I have never had a product that has literally made me so angry that I wanted to throw it out the window, and it's all because of the printer cartridges. I've had this printer for about three years now.
Once the pink was replaced, I was alerted that the "black" cartridge had also "expired". But I don't expect that of my printer ink. Don't fight me. I can understand perishables like milk, and juice have expiration dates.
When I first got it, I have to admit, I was enamored by the quality of it's photo print outs. pretty much everything I could find. 3. I feel like it mocks me, with it's constant whirring and click-clacking after printing every third page; and it's warning messages that essentially tell me it can't print a black-and-white page without the "magenta" cartridge. I consider myself fairly technically capable, and nothing infuriates me more than when my technological goods work against me, make my life harder, and make me have to adjust my habits to meet their buggy behaviors.
It had been a while since I had printed anything, because I knew I was out of "blue" and there was no hope of the printer working without all of the necessary cartridges (especially blue). I hate you HP 8250. I hate this printer. I had bought new cartridges for all of the colors (except black).
The disappointment I have suffered at the hands of this printer have totally made the "ooh-aaah" reaction to the initial photo-quality absolutely moot. But as time went on, I found that I was using it more and more to print out documents, and this is where my relationship with the printer went right in the crapper. Print out pictures in color and black-and-white2. Once I install the blue, I'm alerted that I need to replace the "pink" because the cartridge is past its expiration date.WTF.
First of all, there are six cartridges required for the printer to work. If I want to "trash" my printer by constantly putting a strain on the black-ink cartridge, I would like to reserve the right to tell my printer what to do.I was hoping to remedy this problem this evening.
